Anti Ragging Cell

Profile

Ragging is classified as a criminal offense, prompting the UGC to establish regulations to mitigate this issue within higher educational institutions. These regulations are available on college websites. All students are urged to familiarize themselves with the nature of ragging and their responsibilities in preventing such occurrences on campus. Additionally, students must submit an undertaking alongside a parental endorsement in the specified format. Ratnapith College adopts a strict zero-tolerance approach to ragging. Any student engaged in ragging activities will face severe repercussions, including expulsion from the college and legal action as mandated by law. Students are advised against participating in any actions that could jeopardize the college's reputation, as such behavior can cause significant distress for victims and disrupt the educational process. Students who witness or are aware of ragging incidents, whether on or off campus, should promptly report these activities to college authorities. This will enable the institution to respond swiftly and take appropriate measures. Objectives The objective is to prevent any behavior by students that involves teasing, harassing, or treating new or fellow students with disrespect, or engaging in unruly conduct that may cause annoyance, distress, or psychological harm. Such actions can instill fear or anxiety in new students, compel them to engage in actions they would not normally undertake, and generate feelings of shame, torment, or embarrassment, adversely impacting their physical and mental well-being. This initiative seeks to eradicate ragging, regardless of intent, and to dismantle any display of power or superiority exerted by one student over another. Monitoring and Prevention Measures To ensure a ragging-free environment, Ratnapith College has implemented several proactive measures. The Anti-Ragging Cell frequently conducts sudden visits to hostels, ensuring that no ragging activities are taking place. These surprise inspections act as a strong deterrent and reinforce the college's commitment to student safety. Additionally, regular meetings are held to address and raise awareness about ragging prevention, where students are encouraged to share concerns and suggest improvements. A designated complaint box is also available on campus for students to report any grievances related to ragging or other forms of harassment anonymously. All complaints are treated with the utmost confidentiality and seriousness, and prompt action is taken to investigate and resolve the issues. These collective efforts ensure a safe and supportive environment where all students can pursue their education without fear or intimidation.
